But GIC is available only in few shades.<br> \u2981    Strength wise composite is stronger than GIC.<br> \u2981    Both composite and GIC are good material for filling your back teeth and are commonly used. <br> \u2981    The choice depends on what type of cavity you have in your tooth.<br> \u2981    If it is a small cavity then GIC can be used. <br> \u2981    If the cavity is a bit more-deeper than you may need to use a stronger material like resin- modified GIC or a composite. <br> \u2981    Composite is usually used for front teeth where the color is important, as it is available in different shades<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indication of GIC-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Restoration of erosive\/abrasive lesions without cavity preparation.<\/li><li>Sealing and filling of occlusal pit and fissures.<\/li><li>Restoration of primary teeth.<\/li><li>Restoration of Class V carious lesions.<\/li><li>Restoration of Class III carious lesions, preferably using lingual approach.<\/li><li>Repair of defective margins in restorations.<br> \u2981    Minimal cavity preparations in a proximal lesions through buccal and occlusal approach<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indication of composite-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Primary caries followed by tooth discoloration, tooth fracture and erosion for both genders.<\/li><li>While the principal reason for the replacement of composite restorations was secondary caries followed by tooth discoloration, loss of filling.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Difference between procedure of composite and GIC-<\/strong><br> \u2981    In GIC filling, manipulation is needed.<br> \u2981    Mix powder and liquid in proper ratio with plastic spatula in restorative consistency then apply on tooth.<br> \u2981    While in composite filling we have to use etching material, bond and light curing.<br> \u2981    Isolation is important in composite because they don\u2019t tolerate even a bit moisture.<br> \u2981    When tooth may in a contact with saliva or water then bond does not attach to tooth properly therefore it may cause failure in a composite filling.<br> \u2981    GIC is ideal for the pre-cooperative or uncooperative child as well as the high caries risk child.
